Description:

The S6+ Spruce is an ideal choice for players who prefer the brighter (more high frequencies) sound of a Spruce top. The guitars that make up the Seagull S series represent one of the world's outstanding values in acoustic guitars. The back and sides of the S series models are made from a three-layer lamination of Wild Cherry wood. With a sound that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of a Mahogany guitar and the bright sound of Maple, Wild Cherry has proven itself to be an excellent tone wood. Grown locally, Wild Cherry is also an ecologically friendly choice. S series guitars feature very smooth necks made from Silver Leaf Maple.

Features:
  • Top : Solid Spruce

  • Back & Sides: Wild Cherry

  • Neck: Silver Leaf Maple

  • Fingerboard & Bridge: Rosewood

  • Tusq nut and compensated saddle

5no mistake  Nov 28, 2008
I bought this guitar a few months ago and it is a regretless buy. I got mine for $419 with a ffree case. The neck is extremly fast and smooth, and the quality and craftsmanship is superb. There is only one problem i ever had though. the strings were pretty high off the fretboard, making barre chords a little difficult. but that was easily and quickly handled by popping out the stock saddle and replaceing it with a lower one. overall this is one of the best guitars i have ever played. it even compares well with a much more expensive Martin d17.

Sound - 5 out of 5
Quality - 5
playability - 4 (only because of the high saddle)

5Wow - Seagull S6 acopustic  Jan 27, 2007
I just got back from Guitar Center with the S6 acoustic, and I have to say it is an extremely nice guitar. I paid $370 with a case thrown-in to sweeten the deal. Here's my review.

Appearence = (9) Visually, the headstock takes alittle getting used to, and I really like the two-tone difference of the body and neck. I also like the binding around the headstock and outter lining of the body. This guitar looks extremely well put together, and could probably sell for a much higher price.

Sound quality = (9) If you want a big resonating acoustic for under $500.00 this is the guitar for you. Crisp treble and smooth bass are to be expected upon purchase.
I wasn't even looking to buy an acoustic, but I had to have it after I picked up the guitar. Most acoustics sound dull to me, but the S6 projects beautiful tones from it's big-bodied design.

Playability and action = (10) As far as acoustics, this is the first one I have played that really feels like an electric guitar in my hands. Bending strings and adding vibrato are easily accomplished on this guitar. The entire body is smooth as butter, and the neck is extremely fast. I personally hate a finished backing on any of my guitars. Pleasently, this guitar seems to have none, and feels silky smooth to the touch.

Workmanship = (10) This guitar is extremely well put together. I especially like how fast and precise the tuners are on the guitar.

Hope this helps in your decision, now go out and try one for yourself!

4Excellent guitar for the money.  Jan 17, 2007
I have been playing my Seagull S6 Spruce for several years now, and have been pleased with the quality of both the sound and the instrument itself. The sound is bright and rich, which you would expect from spruce, but admittedly not as warm and rich as, say, rosewood (which is my personal favorite). I like to use light guage D'Addario phos-bronze strings to liven it up even further. The guitar itself has proved to be quite durable, and the finish is fairly tough. Even after years of less-than-gentle use, mine shows no markings. However, the top of the fretboard does show some noticeable wear, but nothing that affects performance. Overall, I would say that for an amateur musician like myself, this guitar is a hard choice to beat at this range of the price spectrum.

5Best sound for the money!  Apr 17, 2006
I have had this guitar for about 2 and a half years now and let me tell you, it is the best guitar I own. For the money you can't get a better sound. This guitar has no finish so the upkeep is a little more tedious but the sound that comes out of this guitar is so full. The highs are bright and crisp and the lows are deep and loud! My brother spent about 500 bucks on a Takamini and the sound out of this guitar is better and fuller than his. The only complaint I might have is that the strings seem to be a little higher off the fret board than any guitar I have played with which makes bar chords and such a little more difficult to play. It's more of an incovenience than anything b/c once you adjust to it you wont notice it much. I love this guitar, I even bought a Ibanez electric to play but it seem like everytime I turn around I am always grabbing this on first! If you are interested check your local music store and see if they carry seagulls, you won't be sorry!
