Description:

The Model 55SH Series II microphone provides the Shure classic UNlDYNE II design coupled with modern acoustic components to meet today's performance standards. This microphone is excellent for vocal pickup with its characteristic Shure presence peak. The 55SH Series II microphone has a cardioid (unidirectional) polar pickup pattern that minimizes sound pickup from the rear of the microphone. This allows the Model 55SH Series II to be used in close proximity to loudspeakers without creating feedback problems, and it can perform under adverse acoustic conditions where omnidirectional microphones cannot. The 55SH Series II has a low-impedance balanced output designed for connection to microphone inputs rated at 75 to 300 ohms. The microphone features a cartridge shock mount to reduce stand noise, an On/Off switch, and an attached, self-tensioning, 5/8''-27 thread swivel mount. This microphone is ideal for public address or theater-stage sound systems, as well as for broadcasting, recording, and other sound applications where a stand-mounted microphone with a classic look is desirable.

Good Enough For The King Of Rock 'n Roll Dec 13, 2008
The Shure 55SHII is the direct decendant of the original Shure 55 that Elvis made famous. That first 55 was actually much bigger than the following models and was affectionately called the "bird cage". I have a couple of those large 55s in my mic collection.

Today's 55SHII takes the second, scaled down model, adds an on/off switch and has updated the mic capsule to a quieter, more modern sounding cardiod pattern, which helps control feedback while onstage near monitors or front of house speakers.

The recent line that I've seen don't have the fit and finish that the originals have, but they still have that same classic look. And they sound even better today.

So if it's the classic rock 'n roll look you want, there's really no other mic to get. Grab a couple of Shure 55SHII "Elvis" mics while they are still making them. If nothing else, they will look cool sitting on your desk or a shelf of memorabilia!

This mic is amazing. Works great for live shows or studio recordings. If you are looking for an industry standard with a sexy, streamlined body, this microphone is for you.

this is a shure sm58 dressed like the classic tlefunken mic. works fine for live shows.
